I would like an explanation from the Asplundh owner. Today is Monday Nov 21, 2016 and you have a crew here in the Upper Carmi area of Penticton doing brushing/slashing work for Fortis BC road easement power lines. Today, at 11:30am, I watched a large Asplundh diesel tandem axle chip truck equipped with a boom and man bucket towing an industrial grade diesel chipper park in front of my home. Two Asplundh employees sitting in the cab. I thought they stopped for a lunch break. By 1:30 pm, the truck still parked there with employees sitting in the cab, I went out to ask if they had mechanical problems and needed help. The response was that they were fine and just waiting for a radio call. They continued to sit there until 3:20 pm when they finally drove off. I have no doubt this was quitting time with ten minutes to show up at 3:30 when their day "officially" ends. Now having some experience in trucks, construction and heavy equipment, I would surmise that this bucket truck, industrial chipper, two well paid employees with Hotels and meals would at a very minimum be charged out at $500/hr. Possibly double or more. So at a minimum, someone got charged $2000 for your iron and employees to park in front of my house for four hours. And ultimately, the person that gets the bill is me and the rest of joe ratepayers. So my question to you, "The owner" of Asplundh, is this....."Who dropped the ball here?" Was it lack of supervision by local Fortis supervisors that were to direct work? Was it lack of supervision on your part? Was it a padded contract and the work was somehow completed by 11:30 am on a Monday? Or was it just lazy azzed employees hiding out on a side street because they filled their quota for the day. Regardless of the answer, it is me and joe ratepayer that pay for it via the BCUC formula for rate increases being the recapture of operating costs plus a fair market return on Capital. From my tiny example here today, it would seem that there is plenty of fat to be trimmed from operational costs if I extrapolate this experience across the Fortis BC service area that we end up paying for.

staying in a hotel beside some of these goofballs, inconsiderate to other guests, smoking pot in company pickups and noisy as hell. Asked manager to mention to them to be more considerate as some of us are shiftworkers and then they started doing donuts in company pick up outside my room and pulling shiftworker sleeping sign off my door. Might want to start a drug testing program.

don't be surprised by the work ethic, they are mostly contracted by bc hydro or other companies which, like most companies, simply pay pay pay because they are paid by us, the tax payer. so yes, you will find them sitting around for hours, on the phones, smoking , eating. this is why unions, and public companies need to go away and let private companies take over. the public funds are not endless, and the people of canada are tired of seeing their taxes wasted when others are getting poorer. canada voted for a young douchebag to replace an older one, and what else can you expect? photobombs, yes photobombs

horrible. not only did they severely damage my grass but they left branches and stuff lying all over that took me hours to clean up. I would never recommend this company to anyone. and you destroyed my garden. I have taken pictures as well. - damage is huge holes to my lawn, the big branches that were dragged across ripped out my SOD. - my garden fencing was broken and branches crushed my plants. - there are branches all over the lawn still looks like no clean up was done.
